In the News

In preparation for the launch of Swift, Science magazine published an article about the mission in their October 8, 2004, issue. The article stressed how Swift would work in close conjunction with instruments on the ground, and showcased ROTSE-III as an "ambitious" example of the automated optical response.

As a result of the prompt optical observation of the January 23rd event, ROTSE still gets attention in the press.  NASA issued a press release listing our experiment as one of their most significant achievements of 1999.

The press release also provides pointers to the NASA Web pages describing ROTSE and our unique results.

A nice article featuring a number of remarkable modern astronomical instruments can be found in "Scientific American Presents", a quarterly journal whose current issue entitled "Extreme Engineering" includes an article by George Musser, " Seven Wonders of Modern Astronomy". ROTSE is listed as the "swiftest".
